Mike’s Recent Indonesia Visit
.png)
I recently returned from a 3-week visit to Indonesia, so encouraged by how our field is doing. I would love to share some highlights with you.
1. Promise House
This place is thriving and continues to surprise. I was amazed by how well the relatively new staff is doing. The house is very large, which serves all of our needs well - there is plenty of office, classroom, meeting, and living space. The adaptation of the spaces has been incredible. Currently, we have six residents and are working to increase capacity to serve up to 15 girls and beyond.
2. Sarah’s House
Sarah's House and Sarah's House 2 are remarkable; operations are running so well in North Sulawesi. We simply couldn't be more grateful for the way this team is humbly working together as they lead the way in both operations, learning, and growth in our precious field.
3. Meeting with the Governor of North Sulawesi
We had a productive meeting with the Governor of North Sulawesi, which was apparently newsworthy as it hit most of the print and online outlets later that day. We were joined by the Provincial head of Women's Empowerment. North Sulawesi represents the leading edge of public/private partnerships to combat trafficking, with Compassion First central to all of those partnerships.

4. Meeting with Worship Leaders and Pastors in Jakarta
We met with several pastors and leaders to discuss ministry connections in Jakarta and throughout West Java, with a focus on large Nights of Worship gatherings scheduled for October. These would be high-exposure events, as the worship leaders we will be working with are well-known across Indonesia.
5. Meeting with IJMI and Selecting Office Space
We continue to be grateful for our friendship with the IJM in Indonesia. They are working in a different lane than we are (labor trafficking); they are good friends to have and a group of highly knowledgeable and capable people. While there, we toured their office and are likely also to lease a space on the same floor as we further establish our central offices in Jakarta in compliance with government requirements. We will be glad to have these neighbors nearby.
Thank you for all your support and love. We would not have these amazing updates without your partnership!
Gratefully,
Mike Mercer
